Deputy Education Minister Urges Youth to Reject Hooliganism and Substance Abuse

The Deputy Minister for Education, Dr Clement Apaak, has called on Ghanaian youth to reject hooliganism, violence, and substance abuse, saying the country’s future must be built on discipline, honesty, hard work, and patriotism.
Speaking at the Pre-African Union Day National Cadet Youth Wreath-Laying Ceremony in Accra, Dr Apaak said young people have a critical role in shaping Ghana’s development and must embrace values that strengthen national cohesion.
He commended the National Cadet Corps for its role in shaping disciplined and responsible citizens through leadership training and community service.
Dr Apaak also encouraged greater participation of young women in leadership positions within the Corps.
The Deputy Minister praised the organisation’s contribution to national development, noting that it now has over 76,000 cadets across schools and tertiary institutions nationwide.
The wreath-laying ceremony forms part of activities marking African Union Day, aimed at fostering patriotism and civic responsibility among the youth.
