Deputy Education Minister Calls for More Investment in Young Innovators

Deputy Minister for Education, Dr Clement Apaak, has called for increased investment in young innovators, stressing that Ghana must provide students with the opportunities, mentorship and resources needed to develop their talents.
He made the call at the 2026 Ghana Science and Technology Explorer Prize (GSTEP) Exhibition and Awards Ceremony held at the University of Ghana.
Dr Apaak said the innovative projects exhibited by students at the event highlighted the critical role of strengthening STEM education in nurturing creativity and developing solutions to national challenges.
According to him, the future of the country depends on the ability to harness the ideas and ingenuity of the next generation.
“We must create an ecosystem where curiosity is encouraged, and innovation is supported. Our students are showing us what is possible when they are given the right platform,” he stated.
The Deputy Minister reaffirmed the Ministry of Education’s commitment to expanding STEM education across the country.
He noted that efforts are underway to integrate coding, robotics, digital literacy and artificial intelligence into teaching and learning at all levels.
Dr Apaak encouraged students to remain curious, resilient and innovative, and urged parents, teachers, industry players and development partners to continue investing in young people.
“Ghana’s future depends on the ideas, creativity and innovations of the next generation. We must equip them today to build the Ghana we want tomorrow,” he added.
