COVID-19 Taught Us No Nation is Safe Until All Nations are Safe- Otumfuo

The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has asserted that the world’s health security is interconnected.
According to Otumfuo, this became evident during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking at the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów on May 29, 2026, he said health must be central to Africa-Europe cooperation because “health security is not charity.”
He described health security as a global interest and thereby urged Poland to partner with Africa to build stronger health systems.
The King outlined specific fields where Africa and Poland can collaborate to save lives, noting that Africa is in need of medical equipment, diagnostics, pharmaceutical products, digital health platforms, hospital management systems and specialist training.
His Majesty said this while highlighting Poland’s strong experience in health sciences, medical education and health technology that Africa can leverage.
He called for joint work in vaccine distribution, laboratory systems, telemedicine, maternal health, sexual and reproductive health, emergency care and hospital infrastructure.
“Let us explore partnerships in vaccine distribution, laboratory systems, telemedicine, maternal health, sexual and reproductive health, emergency care and hospital infrastructure.”
The Asantehene framed health cooperation as both a moral duty and a strategic investment.
“Partnerships that save lives are a partnership blessed by God,” he said.
