C/R: Firefighters Rescue Mason Trapped in Well

A mason trapped inside a well at Asokwa near Abura Dunkwa was successfully rescued by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) on Wednesday morning, June 10, 2026.

The Abura Dunkwa Fire Station received a distress call at approximately 0710 hours reporting a person trapped in a well.

A seven-member rescue team led by ADO II Louis Afful was immediately dispatched to the scene.

The crew arrived at 0755 hours and was later reinforced by ADO I Jeffery Ampiah and SO I Morgan to commence rescue operations.

The victim, identified as Kwesi Salifu, was working inside the well when he became trapped and required urgent assistance.

According to eyewitnesses and the site owner, Mr Henry Duker, Salifu reportedly experienced difficulty breathing due to inadequate oxygen levels in the well.

In an attempt to exit, he became overwhelmed, lost consciousness, and fell back into the well.

The GNFS rescue team successfully retrieved Kwesi Salifu from the well. He was subsequently handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further action and investigation.
