Bole Youth Go on Rampage Over MCE Nomination

Tensions have escalated in Bole, located in the Savannah Region, following the appointment and confirmation of Abdulai Muhmod as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

The decision sparked outrage among sections of the youth, who poured onto the streets in a fiery protest according to a report by Adom Online.

Tyres were set ablaze, and angry demonstrators stormed the District Assembly premises in a dramatic show of defiance.

Protesters also threatened to take their anger directly to the homes of key political figures.

Among those named were Deputy Lands Minister Sulemana Yusif and former President John Mahama, who hails from the area.

The youth claimed that Abdulai Muhmod lacks the recognition and grassroots connection needed to lead the municipality.

They accused unnamed officials of sidelining local voices in the decision-making process and imposing an outsider on them.

Some agitators cited past comments allegedly made by the new MCE, suggesting he had once called for a divide between the Mole people and the Gonjas—an idea they found deeply divisive and unacceptable.

With the situation rapidly deteriorating, security forces have been deployed in Bole to prevent violence and maintain peace.
