The Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission and Head of the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia, H.E. El Hadji Ibrahima Diene, has paid a courtesy call on the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno.

The meeting, held at the Police Headquarters in Accra, focused on strengthening collaboration between the Ghana Police Service and the African Union in the areas of peacekeeping, security, and stabilisation efforts across the continent.

H.E. Diene commended the Ghana Police Service for its consistent contribution to AU peace and security initiatives, particularly through the deployment of personnel to support missions in conflict-affected countries.

He noted that institutional partnerships remain critical to achieving lasting peace and stability in Africa.

For his part, IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno reaffirmed the commitment of the Ghana Police Service to supporting AU-led operations.

He said the Service will continue to provide well-trained officers and share expertise to advance collective security objectives on the continent.

Both leaders highlighted the value of strong institutional partnerships and coordinated efforts in addressing emerging security threats, promoting peacebuilding, and supporting post-conflict stabilisation in member states.
