Ato Forson Oultines 3 Areas Of Focus For NDC Parliamentary Caucus

The Minority Leader in Parliament, Cassiel Ato Forson says the caucus will in the next four weeks focus on three specific things in the country.

The focus of the Minority will be fixed on the size of the current administration, Committee probe of the Covid Expenditure audit and educating Ghanaians on the economic situation of the country.

He said this at a press conference on Thursday, January 26 in Parliament.

He was with Govern Kwame Agbodza, the new minority chief whip and Ahmed Ibrahim, the first deputy minority chief whip of the Minority in Parliament.

Addressing the media he said attempts by the government to increase its size will not be countenanced.

“I wish to send a message to the NPP that the people of Ghana are calling on them to downsize their government to reflect the mood of the country. You are asking the people to forgo their interest.

“You are asking the ordinary Ghanaian to sacrifice with his payout and so therefore if His Excellency the President intends to reshuffle his government, let him know that we in the NDC will not accept an attempt to increase the size of government and if the current size of government increase by one, that one person will not receive our cooperation.”

With the upcoming committee hearing on the audit of the Covid-19 expenditure, he said the Minority will diligently commit to its duty.

“We also wish to assure the people of Ghana that as part of our engagements with the Finance Committee and Health Committee, we have agreed to do public hearing on the audit of the Covd-19 expenditure beginning on 7th February 2023. At that point, we will pay due diligence to the duties given to us.”

Finally, he said the minority will educate Ghanaians on the current state of the economy.

Cassiel Ato Forson, Kofi Armah Buah and Kwame Agboza were appointed earlier this week as the new leaders of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament.
