Reduced Passport Application Fee Takes Effect on Thursday

The reduced passport application fee will take effect on November 13, 2025, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced.
Effective Thursday, all applicants will have to pay Ghc350 instead of the current Ghc500.
This is a 30% reduction in the fee, which was exponentially increased by the previous administration to address the challenges associated with its acquisition.
At the time, the Ministry said it had been unable to purchase more printers to augment the existing ones due to the subsidy it provided to applicants, leading to delayed printing for subsequent distribution of passports.
The reduction forms part of reforms by the current government.
Other reforms included the 24-hour Operations, which make way for the processing of passports around the clock; direct passport delivery through courier with Ghana Post as its lead partner; an e-tracking System; and Guaranteed passport delivery not exceeding 15 days.
