Police Inspector Interdicted Over Alleged Defilement of 14-Year-Old Daughter

The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has confirmed that an investigation is underway into an alleged defilement and incest case involving Inspector Desmond Owusu Afriyie, a police officer stationed at Mamponteng District in the Ashanti Region.

The complaint was lodged on 4th November 2025 by one Charlotte Samaa of Koforidua in the Eastern Region. She filed the report on behalf of her 14-year-old daughter, alleging that the victim had been sexually abused by her biological father, Inspector Afriyie.

Following the report, the victim was referred to a government health facility for medical examination to assist

On 20th February 2026, the suspect voluntarily reported himself to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at Agona District, where he was formally arrested.

Inspector Afriyie denied the allegations and was subsequently released on enquiry bail, with instructions to report periodically to the police.

The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has since interdicted the officer to pave the way for further investigation.

In a brief statement, the Command assured the public of its commitment to conducting thorough investigations into the matter. Further developments will be communicated as the case progresses.

No charges have been formally filed in court at this stage, as investigations continue.
