2024 Election: Our Loss Was Internal- Bawumia

The 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has affirmed that internal concerns caused their heavy defeat in the election which unsuccessfully sought to break the eight-year jinx in government.
According to him, all the needed hard work and effort were invested; however, the failure of the supporters of the party to vote caused the defeat.
“Notwithstanding our hard work; however, we suffered a heavy defeat. When we look at what happened, you will see that it was internal.”
He observes that “Many of our supporters did not come out or vote.”
“This is really fundamentally why we lost. 2.1 million of our supporters didn’t come out to vote. If you look at John Mahama’s votes, it went up by 115,000 and we went down by 2.1 million. That is basically why we didn’t win.”
The former Vice President thereby judged that the means to win power lies within the authority of party supporters.
“The key to Victory going forward is within the NPP. It is within ourselves. Because we decided not to vote. If we decide to vote, we will win.”
