Asamoah Gyan to Pass on Art of Goal Scoring to Ghanaian Footballers

Africa’s all-time leading scorer at the World Cup, Asamoah Gyan, is set to be officially unveiled as ambassador for Ghana’s national teams and colts at the Pelican Hotel.

The event, which is billed to kick off at 7:00 PM, is a move to honour Gyan’s contribution to Ghanaian football and to leverage his influence to create some excitement ahead of the Black Stars’ participation at the 2026 FIFA World Cup this June.

Gyan is Ghana’s all-time top scorer with 51 international goals and remains one of the most recognisable faces in African football. He made his debut international appearance for Ghana against Somalia on November 19, 2003, coming on in the 90th minute.
His new role will be to spearhead promotional campaigns, engagements and corporate partnerships to rally Ghanaians behind the Black Stars as they head to North America for the 2026 tournament.

In an interview ahead of the milestone honour by the Ghana Football Association, Gyan confirmed that he pledged his commitment to training young Ghanaian talents to develop the art of scoring goals.
“Sometimes the comments that are circulated are put into action; sometimes, some Ghanaians question me why I don’t train the young footballers in the art of goal scoring. Earlier on, I did attach seriousness to it even though I own an academy, but I think this is the right moment.”
Gyan, scorer of Ghana’s first-ever World Cup goal against the Czech Republic in 2006, outlined how to practice scoring goals, rather than seeking spiritual consultations.

“Goal scoring is an art that needs lots of practising and training, but not an issue of consulting a pastor or juju leaders to aid a player to be a perfect goal scorer.”
“I have taken it upon myself to train young and upcoming Ghanaian footballers in the art of goal scoring because during my playing career, I seized the opportunity after training sessions to practice my art of goals scored, and it has paid off for everyone to testify.”
