Kofi Kinaata Calls on GFA to Ensure Fair Selection of Players for World Cup

Martin King Arthur, a well-known songwriter better recognised as Kofi Kinaata, has addressed an open letter to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) regarding the World Cup squad.

The World Cup is scheduled to commence on the 11th of June. According to the timetable, each participating nation is required to submit their preliminary squad, comprising between 35 and 55 players, to FIFA and to make this announcement to the media by the 13th of May.

Arthur has echoed the concerns and expectations of many Ghanaians following squad announcements by other African countries such as Ivory Coast, Cape Verde, and DR Congo.

The GFA Executive members, including Prosper Harrison Addo, Esq., and Henry Asante Twum, have refuted a purported Black Stars call-up list that circulated in the media, deeming it fabricated.

The Effiakuma-based musician has created captivating music that has frequently showcased the Black Stars, consistently exhibiting strong support for the team during prestigious competitions.

Kinaata wrote an open letter to the GFA, alerting them of the final squad to be made public and demanding that the process for the call-up be free and fair, which will welcome deserving players to fight for the flag at the Mundial.

“Dear GFA, we beg waa, we are waiting for the final 26-man World Cup Squad. If the selection process is ongoing backstage too, kindly make it free and fair for the active deserving players, because we all dey watch some. Thanks! From a patriotic Ghanaian.”

The Black Stars of Ghana will commence their campaign at BMO Field in Toronto against Panama, proceed to Gillette Stadium to face the Three Lions of England, and conclude the group stage at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia against Croatia.
