Bawku Curfew Renewed

The government has renewed the curfew on Bawku in the Upper East Region as clashes persist.
In a statement, the Minister for Interior said the Municipality and its environs will continue to be under restraints from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am each day.
The renewal became effective on Monday, March 3, 2025.
“The Minister for the Interior has by Executive Instrument renewed the curfew hours imposed on Bawku Municipality and its environs in the Upper East Region from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am effective Monday, March 3, 2025.”
The Minister urged chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth and the residents to exercise restraint in the face of the protracted conflict and utilise non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace.
Meanwhile, he said the ban against carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapon remains in force.
“Any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.”
