A Walk Through the Selection Process of Nana Ama Bonsu as 15th Asantehemaa

On Monday morning, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, summoned Kokofuhemaa, Kenyasehemaa, Nana Asantehemaa Kotimso ne Nkonson, Otumfuo Gyaasehene, the Oyoko Abohyen Abusuapanin and other relevant traditional authorities to present the name of the nominee to ascend the vacant female stool.

They were informed of the selection of Nana Ama Bonsu as the 15th Asantehemaa and then dispatched to bring her to the Manhyia Palace.
The delegation proceeded to the nominee’s residence which is across the Manhyia Palace and informed her alongside some family members of her call to the Palace.

Nana Ama Bonsu was escorted on foot to the Manhyia Palace, specifically to the Asantehemaa’s Palace, where she was received with jubilation and the sound of drums.
Her Majesty was also sprinkled with white powder as a sign of celebration.

Seated in the official seat of Asantehemaa inside the Palace, the appointee, together with other elders, was formally informed of her enstoolment by Otumfuo’s Linguist, Baffour Kantankrakyi.
She then received homage from well-wishers before being taken on a tour of her new residence.

This traditional process marks Her Majesty’s enstoolment and the beginning of her reign.
Meanwhile, her stool name will be made known following the requisite traditional rites today.
