A/R: ‘Samansaman’ Taskforce to Haul Offenders to Court – KMA

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly says its reintroduced ‘Samansaman’ taskforce will arrest and haul sanitation offenders straight to court starting July 1, 2026, as part of tougher measures to clean up the metropolis.
KMA announced that the ‘Enhanced Samansaman System’ will deploy a special task force made up of environmental officers, military and police personnel to selected communities across the city.
The team will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on each working day to enforce environmental laws and bylaws.
According to the Assembly, anyone found breaching sanitation regulations during the patrols will be apprehended immediately and prosecuted in court without prior warnings.
KMA said the move is aimed at ending the cycle of indiscriminate waste disposal and poor sanitation practices that continue to clog drains and threaten public health in Kumasi.
The Management also disclosed that the next Sanitation Day under the enhanced system will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2026, within the Abrepo Electoral Area and will be led by the Assembly Member.
Residents are expected to take part in the clean-up exercise.
The Assembly is urging the public to keep their surroundings clean at all times and to support the taskforce’s work.
