14 Illegal Miners Granted ₵350k Bail Each

The Koforidua Circuit Court B has granted bail to 14 persons arrested for their connection to illegal mining known as galamsey at Akyem Muoso in the Eastern Region.

The accused were arrested on May 15 and arraigned on May 16.

The police retrieved a pump-action gun from one of the suspects, Zuberu Nuhoho, who failed to produce documentation for the weapon.

In addition to that, two excavator control boards were retrieved from the mining site.

A statement by the Ghana Police Service said each was granted bail in the sum of GHC350,000.00 with two sureties, one of whom is to be justified with movable property.
