Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings Elected 2nd Vice President of Pan African Parliament

The Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, Hon. Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has been elected as the 2nd Vice President of the Pan African Parliament (PAP).
She secured the position by a vote of 131 to 51 during elections held at the continental body.
Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings, a medical doctor becomes Ghana’s representative in the top leadership of the PAP, the legislative organ of the African Union.
Her election marks a significant moment for Ghana’s parliamentary diplomacy on the continent.
The 2nd Vice President role is part of the Bureau of the Pan African Parliament, which provides political leadership and guides the work of the House.
Tributes and congratulatory messages have since poured in on social media, with many praising the win as a boost for Ghana and for women in continental leadership.
The Pan African Parliament, headquartered in Midrand, South Africa, is composed of representatives from AU member states and seeks to ensure the full participation of African peoples in the economic development and integration of the continent.
Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings is the daughter of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, Ghana’s first president of the Fourth Republic.
