We’ll Prove Difficult For teams At WAFCON- Black Queens Coach

The head coach of the Senior National Women team, Nora Hauptle says her team will be the back-breaking side in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament in Morocco.

It comes after her team missed out on the World Olympic Games following their draw against Zambia in the second leg of the third round of the qualifiers on February 28, 2024.

In a post-match press conference after their knockout, Coach Nora assured they would display valiance in the tournament.

“On the WAFCON, we will be there and make life of some their game very hard on the pitch.”

She also expressed her admiration for the Black Queens saying, “I’m proud and in love with my team. We have Mission Volta and of course, this is a very hard one for us to take.”

The Queens in December 2023 qualified for the 2024 WAFCON alongside South Africa, DR Congo, Botswana, Tunisia, Senegal, Tanzania, Zambia, Morocco, Algeria, Mali and Nigeria.

They will be attempting their first win after placing third both in 2004 and 2016, second in 2006, getting eliminated at the group stages in 2008, 2010 and 2018 and not qualifying in 2012.

Nigeria hold the highest number of titles having won the tournament 11 times. South Africa are the defending Champions.

The tournament will be hosted by Morocco for the second time in a row in 2024 but the dates have not been announced yet.
