GFA Donates GHc10k To Former Black Stars Keeper

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has made a donation of GHc10,000 to former goalie Sampson Appiah.

Appiah who was a goal keeper for the national team as well as Kumasi Asante Kotoko is now confined to crutches.

He underwent spine surgery and is currently undergoing his physiotherapy session at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

The GFA Foundation announced the donation after visiting the former keeper at his residence in Kumasi in the Ashanti region over the weekend.

They were led by Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Handing over the cheque to him, the foundation promised to help him with his therapy and encouraged individuals and organizations to patronise such ventures.

Sampson Appiah played for the Black Stars from 1983 to 1990.

The foundation was established last month and has seen a handful of former sportsmen benefitting from it.

It is aimed at enhancing the living conditions of former footballers who might be in needy situations as a result of old age, ill health, injury or general deprivation.
