MP For Akwatia Reported Dead

The Member of Parliament for Akwatia Constituency, Ernest Kumi, has passed on according to reports.
Information surrounding his death remains scanty at the moment, however, the news broke out on Monday, July 7 afternoon.
Social media posts from some of his colleagues in Parliament appear to confirm the incident.
A Facebook post by the MP for Tafo Constituency, Vincent Asafuah read, “S3 Asa”.
The lawmaker had his election contested following his declaration as the winner in the 2024 Parliamentary polls with 19,269 votes over Henry Yiadom Boakye of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who managed 17,206 votes.
The Koforidua High Court later cited him for contempt and issued a bench warrant for his arrest after he defied an injunction and presented himself for the swearing-in ceremony in Parliament in January 2025.
The conviction was, however, nullified a month ago by the Supreme Court.
The 40-year-old held an MSc in Defence and International Politics from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (2022), an MBA in Corporate Governance from the University of Professional Studies (2014), an LLB from Mountcrest University College (2019), and a BSc in Ports and Shipping Administration from Regional Maritime University (2009).
