99 Double-Track SHSs To Revert To Single Track-GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the reverting of almost 100 Senior High Schools to single track system.
This will take effect in 2025/2026 Academic Year beginning in October.
According to the GES, this is one of the 20 interventions the government is implementing in the second cycle institutions across the country.
In a Facebook post, the service said, “99 Double-Track SHSs to Reset Back to Single Track in 2025/2026 Academic Year Beginning October; Among Other Key Interventions in Education.”
The double-track system was implemented to manage increased enrollment under the Free Senior High School (FSHS) policy, dividing students into two rotating “tracks” or “semesters”.
This was meant to address infrastructure deficits and overcrowding.
Each track attends school for shorter periods before students and staff rotate, allowing another track to use the facilities.
The system faced challenges like reduced contact hours, infrastructure issues, and inadequate resources.
