More than 120,000 students in 240 Senior High Schools are now accessing digital lessons through the government’s expanded iBox platform, as the Ministry of Education rolls out new interventions to bridge the learning gap in underserved communities.
The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, outlined this as part of a series of digital learning interventions aimed at improving access to quality education for students in underserved communities across the country.
Answering questions on the floor of Parliament, the Minister said the Ministry of Education, through the Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS), is expanding digital learning opportunities.
The expansion includes the iBox platform, interactive educational technology tools, and offline learning solutions for schools without internet access.
Hon. Iddrisu noted that the iBox system is currently deployed in 240 SHSs and is actively supporting over 120,000 students.
He added that additional interventions are being rolled out to improve digital literacy, strengthen teaching and learning, and support students preparing for national examinations.
The Minister stressed that the initiatives form part of the government’s commitment to bridging the digital divide.
He said the goal is to ensure that every learner, regardless of location, has access to quality educational resources and opportunities in the digital age.
