Transport Minister Backs ATGK Plan to Host 1st African Drone Expo in Ghana

The Minister for Transport, Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, has pledged government support for initiatives to advance Ghana’s drone and aviation technology ecosystem, including plans by ATECH GROUP KOREA to host the 1st African Drone Expo in the country.

A delegation from ATGK, led by Chief Executive Officer Mr Lee Cheol Su, called on the Minister today to discuss strategic partnerships aimed at positioning Ghana as a hub for drone innovation in the sub-region.

Mr Lee briefed Hon. Nikpe on ATGK’s proposal to stage the maiden African Drone Expo in Ghana.

He also disclosed that a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between ATGK, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, and Accra Technical University to deepen research, training, and innovation in the drone sector.

Welcoming the delegation, Hon. Nikpe reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to leveraging emerging technologies to grow Ghana’s aviation industry.

The Minister assured ATGK of the Ministry’s support and collaboration as the country works to build capacity and attract investment in drone technology.

The planned MoU between ATGK, GCAA, and ATU is expected to create new opportunities for skills development and research, while the African Drone Expo aims to showcase innovations and strengthen Ghana’s profile in the continental aviation technology space.
