W/NR: Chinese Nationals Arrested For Galamsey In Tano Anwia Forest Reserve

Two Chinese nationals have been arrested by the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) Task Force in Jomoro in the Western North Region.

It comes after they were busted for allegedly engaging in illegal mining activities in the Tano Anwia Forest Reserve.

During an operation conducted on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, the task force reportedly encountered fierce resistance from about eight bodyguards providing protection for the illegal act.

However, the task force succeeded in arresting the eight alongside the Chinese.

Among the items retrieved from the site were a Toyota Land Cruiser V8 with registration number GR 442-14, four excavators, two heavy water pumping machines, and 12 makeshift structures were destroyed.

This is among a series of clampdowns undertaken by the team this week in various parts of the country in the quest to end illegal mining.
