Tame Your Cattle Or They’ll Be Fed to Inmates; KMA Boss to Herdsmen

The Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, has announced a measure to rid the streets of Kumasi of roaming cattle and restore order.

In Kumasi, Ghana’s second-largest city, cattle roaming major roads has become a longstanding issue. Despite being a nuisance to residents, authorities have seemingly turned a blind eye, allowing the problem to escalate unchecked.

Addressing the press on Monday, he announced plans to slaughter and feed all stray cattle to prison inmates when found.

He therefore warned herdsmen to properly restrain their cattle from straying onto principal roads and streets.

“If you are a cattle owner and your cattle stray into the domain of KMA, be rest assured that it will be killed and fed to the Kumasi Central Prison inmate.”

He pointed to the nuisance these activities present to motorists, characterising it as “unacceptable”.

“Especially in the area from the airport to the leadup to Manhyia. I cannot sit here and let visitors get to this beautiful airport and when they are driving to Manhyia all they encounter is faeces of cattle.”
