“Asana” Vendor Assisting Investigation After 22 Pupils Got Hospitalised

A medical investigation has been initiated into the consumption of a local drink that left 22 children of two schools in Ningo Prampram District sick.
The affected students of Prampram D/A Basic A and the Methodist Freeman Basic School were admitted at the Prampram Polyclinic on Monday.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Member of Parliament for the Constituency, Sam George, said 21 of the victims were discharged on the same day for further observation while one was admitted overnight as a precautionary measure.

“I have followed up with the Education Directorate as well as the Medical Director for the Prampram Polyclinic.”

He disclosed that samples of the drink are under medical observation while the vendor is assisting in the probe.

“The vendor of the suspected ‘contaminated’ asana is assisting with the ongoing medical investigation. Samples have been sent to the lab to determine what exactly went wrong.”

Meanwhile, he extended his well-wishes to the victims while commending the medical team of the facility for their swift intervention.
