Police Officers Banned From Bawku Travel

The Ghana Police Service has banned its personnel from travelling to Bawku and its environs with immediate effect.

A wireless message by ACP J. W Darison said the directive comes on the back of dangerous developments in recent days.

“The police administration has observed a dangerous development in Bawku and its environs. Personnel and their families have become targets in these areas by unknown persons.  The Police Service directs a ban on personnel travelling to Bawku with immediate effect.”

Meanwhile, it has instituted new protocols for all resident officers and their families, banning their movement in Pusiga and Binduri.

“The Police further directs the movement of personnel both indigenes and non-indigenes, including their families in Pusiga and Binduri, is banned.”

It directed personnel on duty to use appropriate protective equipment.

“Personnel deployed on OPS duties in these areas should ensure they put on appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and are under armoured escort.”

It urged the officers to comply.

“Accept for strict compliance, treat urgently. By this directive, Garu can also be dangerous so all should take note and comply.”

Two police officers were shot dead at Poyameirea in Binduri in the Upper East Region while travelling on a motorbike on April 13.
