Govt Releases GH¢267 Million as NHIS Claims for April

The government has released GH¢267.67 million to cover vetted claims for health facilities nationwide.

The amount covers remaining claims submitted and vetted for up to April 2025 and brings the total amount released by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) over the last seven months to over GH¢1.5 billion.

Of the amount, public health facilities received GH¢120,700,932.62, while private health facilities received GH¢100,210,906.44.

Meanwhile, mission health facilities were allotted GH¢46,761,808.96.

In a statement, the NHIA said the payment underscores the Authority’s ongoing commitment to supporting healthcare providers and ensuring the sustainability of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS)

“The NHIA’s prompt payments regime, introduced earlier this year and in line with the government’s commitment to ensuring that healthcare providers are resourced, has been instrumental in maintaining a debt-free status for 2025, guaranteeing timely reimbursement to healthcare providers nationwide. Payments are in fulfilment of the NHIA’s mandate as a payer of healthcare services for disease conditions prescribed in the NHIS Benefit Package.”
