In a statement it said the inferno started from one corner of the structure, quickly spreading across adjacent offices around 12:30 am on August 4.

It said the immediate and professional response from personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service, brought the situation under control.

The fire affected key offices housed within the ATIC premises including the International Affairs Department of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), the Call Centre of the GTA, the Tour Operators Union of Ghana (TOUGHA), the National Film Authority (NFA) and other private businesses in the Travel, Tour & Hospitality.

“We are relieved to report that no casualties or injuries were recorded,” it confirmed.

It also assured that investigations into the exact cause of the outbreak are currently ongoing, while the Ministry, in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority and relevant agencies, is awaiting the Final Incident Report to guide future actions.

It added that “The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has extended her heartfelt sympathies to all affected staff, agencies, and stakeholders. She has commended the Ghana National Fire Service for their prompt and professional response, which averted a potentially larger disaster.”
