St.Micheal SHS Calls For Gov’t Intervention As It Lacks Infrastructure

The Authorities of St.Micheal Senior High School at Ahenkuro in the Afigya Kwabre North District of the Ashanti region have appealed to the government, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) and philanthropists to support the institution with infrastructure and other educational materials to help improve academic work.

Addressing the media, the headmaster said the schools lacked adequate classrooms, hostels for students from other regions, a science resource centre and computers as well as staff accommodation.

It appears only the Headmaster and Senior house master have accommodation in the school; all other staff members look for their own accommodation elsewhere.

Mr Joseph Adjei noted that the government alone can not shoulder the responsibility of education hence the need for other stakeholders to assist the school in its needs to enhance education.

“The school has a lot of prospects and can become one of the leading second cycle schools in the country if it problems are adequately addressed”.

Some students also revealed that poor toilet facilities, inadequate classroom block and Dormitories, lack of an assembly hall, and poorly equipped ICT and science labs among others were hampering effective teaching and learning activities.
