Sports Minister Kofi Adams Confirms Live Broadcast of 2026 FIFA World Cup

Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, has confirmed that Ghana will broadcast the 2026 FIFA World Cup live on some local television stations.
The announcement was made during the presentation of a GHC5 million donation from GCB Bank to the Black Stars as the national team steps up preparations for the highly-anticipated global tournament.
“Through the support of government and fundraising efforts, we have been able to secure broadcast rights to telecast the World Cup matches live on some of the media stations,” Hon. Kofi Adams said while expressing gratitude to all stakeholders who have supported the initiative from the beginning.
The generous donation from GCB Bank comes at a crucial time as new coach Carlos Queiroz continues to work tirelessly on building a strong squad for the Black Stars.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama. The Black Stars will kick off their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England and Croatia in the remaining group matches.
As part of their preparations, Ghana will face Mexico in a pre-World Cup friendly on May 22. A squad for that fixture has already been named, largely without the key European-based players.
The final squad for the 2026 World Cup is expected to be announced ahead of the Wales friendly in early June.
The live broadcast confirmation has been welcomed by Ghanaian football fans, who will now have the opportunity to follow the Black Stars’ campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup from the comfort of their homes.
