Mahama Reiterates Commitment to Unresolved Ahmed Suale, JB Dankwa Murder Cases

President John Dramani Mahama says his government stands committed to solving the puzzle surrounding high-profile murders which have seen no progress for years.
Specifically touching that of Investigative Journalist Ahmed Suale and late Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, JB Danquah, he said he had doubled down pressure on the Police Service and other relevant investigative bodies.
This, according to the President, resulted in the arrest of one person in connection with the murder of the journalist which occurred in 2019.
“We are committed to the protection of human rights and the investigation of significant killings that have remained investigated. I’ve urged the police and the investigative organisations to look more actively into cases like Ahmed Suale and that is how come the first suspect has been arrested.”
He is hopeful that the interrogation of the suspect will lead to further arrests of other suspects.
On that of the late MP which happened in February 2016, the head of state affirmed an order for an expedited prosecution has been delivered.
“There are several other cases like the JB Danquah murder case. We are asking that it be expedited in terms of the prosecution that is taking place and investigations to find out if any other persons were involved.”
