Curfew Imposed on Nalerigu After Shooting Of 2 SHS Students

The Ministry of Interior has imposed a 16-hour curfew on Nalerigu in the North-east Region.
It comes after two students of Nalerigu Senior High School were shot dead at the school’s premises on July 26 night.
It heinous crime is believed to be linked to the ongoing chieftaincy conflict in Bawku in the Upper East Region, however, the connection is yet to be confirmed by authorities.
In a statement, the Ministry said the town will be under curfew from 2:00 pm to 6:00 am, effective Sunday, July 27, 2025.
These reforms will be in place until further notice, it noted.
“Government calls on the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them as well as to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace.
“Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in the Nalerigu Township and its environs from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapons and any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.”
