KMA Plans Cleanup Exercise to Usher In Asantehemaa’s Burial Rites

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has announced a second cleanup exercise this Saturday to usher in the burial rites of the late Nana Konadu Yiadom III, Asantehemaa.

The exercise will take place from 6 am to 12noon across the metropolis to make the City spotless and also presentable to people from all walks of life who will be mourning with Asanteman.

“As the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and Manhyia Palace prepare the City for the Doteyie of Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, another metrowide clean-up exercise is scheduled for Saturday, 13. September 2025,” it announced in a statement.

It therefore encouraged Security Agencies and Volunteer Groups in the Metropolis to take part in this special clean-up exercise.

It added, “Residents are also called upon to come out in their numbers to participate in the cleaning of our surroundings, especially from Airport Roundabout to Manhyia Palace stretch, Manhyia Palace to Amakom stretch and Manhyia, Ash Town and its surroundings.”

The KMA also directed that all trading activities and shops in the City must remain closed until noon while the owners partake in this exercise.

The restraint on business activities also affects all commercial drivers.

“No vehicular movement would be allowed during the stipulated period for the exercise.”
