Prosecutorial Power: OSP Stay of Execution Hearing Adjourned to June 8

A High Court hearing on an application by the Office of the Special Prosecutor for a stay of execution has been adjourned to 8 June 2026.

The application, scheduled for hearing today, May 21, 2026, before Justice John Eugene Nyante Nyadu, was to address the OSP’s challenge to the court’s earlier ruling on its prosecutorial authority.

When OSP state attorneys appeared in court, the judge informed them that the respondent’s side had sent correspondence indicating they were unable to attend.

The respondent proposed alternative dates of May 28, May 29, or June 8, 2026.

The court opted for 8 June 2026 for the hearing.

As a result, the OSP’s application for a stay of execution was adjourned to that date.
