Police Rescue Captive In Abuakwa Robbery

The Police have announced they have rescued the female resident of Abuakwa who was captured during an armed robbery in a house.

The police say the victim is being taken for medical review and psycho-social care.

“Police have successfully rescued the female victim who was taken away by the armed robbers. The victim is being taken for medical review and psycho-social care”, the Ghana Police Service relayed in a brief statement.

The police, however, failed to give details about the rescue operation.

The Service is yet to make an arrest.

The police in the Ashanti Region of Ghana are after a gang of two who stormed a house at Abuakwa with machetes and robbed the occupants.

The robbers are said to have also bolted with a female resident of the house.

The incident, the police said, happened in the wee hours of August 17, 2022.

A police report said, “according to the victims, at about 01:15 am they heard an unusual noise at the main gate of their house.

“They came out to see what was happening and two men holding machetes suddenly emerged, pushed them back to their rooms and collected an unspecified sum of money and four mobile phones from them.”
