Our Nation Is Safe And Secure- Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has averred that Ghana is a safe haven following the careful and deliberate implementation of policy and planning to keep the territory secure.

Presenting the State of the Nation Address (SONA) on February 27, 2024, the country’s Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces said that security is no longer taken for granted as it is deemed the government’s primary responsibility to the state.

“I am glad to be able to report that the entire territory that makes up our nation is safe, secure and under the control of the government and people of Ghana,” he assured as he recognized the infiltration of terrorism and violent extremism from the Sahel to coastal West Africa.

He observes that Ghana is the only coastal state along the Gulf of Guinea that has so far not recorded a terrorist attack.

“We can no longer take the territorial integrity of our countries for granted. Indeed, many of our neighbours have already fallen victim, and lost large portions of their territories to extremist groups.”

The security in place, the 79-year-old head of state said, was due to his government’s deliberate policy and planning as well as hard work and dedication on the part of security services.

He also admitted the security has not been without the investment of “a lot of money”.
