Otumfuo Intervenes In Antoa Stool Controversy

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has directed all royals interested in filling the vacant stool of the Antoa to submit their requests to Nana Daadom Pokuaa, the Queen mother of Antoa.

The queen mother was accused of setting aside laid down processes and devising means to impose a particular royal house in the name of Otumfuo after Nana Kwame Owusu Agyeman was destooled.

The development compelled two persons to invoke the Great Oath to stall the process with the necessary rituals put in place.

Following a summon by Asantehene for the elders of the town over the delay in the installation of a new chief, the queen mother and other traditional elders of the town made an appearance before the King on March 25, 2024, during a Kumasi Traditional Council meeting.

Nana Daadom Pokuaa denied she was attempting to impose on the royals in the name of Otumfuo when she was questioned.

Otumfuo therefore charged the queen mother to get a new leader for the town while he directed all interested royals to see her with their petitions.

“In this regard, all interested royals must submit their petitions to the queen mother.”

Antoa Destoolment
Nana Kwame Owusu Agyeman was destooled on May 29, 2023, by the Occupant of the Golden Stool.

The chief is reported to have gone against the customarily laid out and accepted procedures in instating his nephew to take over from him while he lives. When he was confronted by his kinsmen and elders to seek the permission of Otumfuo, he reportedly denigrated the King.

After hearing his case, the King ruled against him and ordered his destoolment.
