Antoa Kingmakers Select Candidate

A candidate has been selected to fill the vacant Antoa stool, bringing the enstoolment process closer to completion.

It comes as the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has charged the Queen, Nana Boa Daadom Pokua II, to take immediate steps to enstool the selected choice of the kingmakers.

The kingmakers selected Kofi Ofori as their preferred candidate from among the nine who expressed interest in ascending the stool.

The nine were Kwadwo Adubofour, Yaw Ansah, Kwaku Owusu, Kwabena Adusei, Kofi Ofori, Asenso Dwantoa, Yaw Boakye, Akwasi Asenso and Kwadwo Bonsu.

The five kingmakers, in a unanimous decision, opted for Kofi Ofori, formerly the Family Head.

Following the selection of the kingmakers, Otumfuo directed the queen who had been removed from the processes to as a matter of urgency, undertake all the rites to enstool him and present him for the oath of allegiance.

Once enstooled, Ofori will succeed Nana Kwame Owusu Agyeman who was destooled by Otumfuo on May 29, 2023.
