Opoku Ware Old Boys’ Association Donates GH₵300,000 Towards Heal KATH Project

The Opoku Ware Old Boys’ Association has donated GH₵300,000 towards the renovation of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital under the Heal KATH project being spearheaded by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

A dummy cheque for the amount, which had already been handed over to the hospital, was presented to Otumfuo during the fourth Awukudae Festival celebration on May 20, 2026.


The Global President of the Association, Michael Adu Domfeh, said the funds were mobilised during a fundraising activity held at their end-of-year get-together.

“Each December the association organises a gathering for members to socialise, and last year they dedicated it to raising money for the Heal KATH project. We were able to raise our target of GH₵300,000.”

Trophies
They also led the School’s athletic team to present trophy from Ashanti Regional Super Zonals athletics competition to Otumfuo.


“Three months ago, our sports students participated in the Ashanti Regional Super Zonals athletics competition. They won and advanced to the national level where they broke a number of records,” he said.

Anniversary
The Association also informed the Asantehene about their upcoming 75th Anniversary celebration in 2027.

“Next year, the school will be 75 years old. When the time is due, we will come and officially inform His Majesty.”

Gifts
Conveying a goodwill message to the King on his 26th Enstoolment anniversary and 76th birthday, they announced some gifts.

Commendation
Welcoming them on behalf of the King, Otumfuo Hiahene Nana Prof Oheneba Boachie-Adjei, patted the athletes on their success, emphasising that it reflects the winning spirit of the institution.

“On behalf of Otumfuo, I encourage you to continue the winning ways. The school has been a winner since its inception.”

He also expressed gratitude for the donation to KATH, describing it as exemplary.

“We also thank you for the support to KATH and encourage other schools to emulate.”

Among the delegation were Rev Father Stephen Owusu Sekyere, the Headmaster and Mr Kwesi Oduro Boateng, the Assistant Headmaster.
