Obuasi Prison Supports Discharged Inmate with Electrical Tools for Reintegration

The Chaplaincy Unit of Obuasi Local Prison has supported a discharged inmate with electrical working tools to help him restart life after incarceration.

On June 11, 2026, the unit, led by DSP James Ekow Amoah, in collaboration with the Church of Christ, Dunkwa-On-Offin, and sponsored by Madam Evelyn Donkor, presented the tools to Kwabena Asare.

The donation included a drilling machine, angle grinder, pliers, and screwdrivers.

The support aligns with the Ghana Prisons Service’s rehabilitation and reintegration agenda, which seeks to equip discharged persons with skills and resources to earn a livelihood and avoid recidivism.

Kwabena Asare, an electrician before his incarceration, also received guidance and counselling sessions to prepare him for responsible living after discharge.

Officer-in-Charge ADP Francis D.K. Deku encouraged him to remain focused, hardworking and law-abiding as he rebuilds his future.
