Obour Announces Bid To contest In NPP Primary

The Managing Director of the Ghana Post Company Limited, Bice Osei Kuffour known as Obour, will for the second time contest in the Asante Akyem South Parliamentary Primary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

After losing his first bid in 2020, he hopes to have a change in the narrative next year when the primaries take place.

In a post on X, he said he would pick a form on Wednesday, December 20, when the NPP opens nominations.

“After broad consultations and deep reflection on my passion to create better opportunities for the economic development of my people and home constituency -Asante Akyem South, I have decided to pick forms and contest when the NPP opens nominations on 20th December.”

The former MUSIGA boss contested in the NPP Parliamentary in June 2020 and lost to two-time legislator Kwaku Asante Boateng. Obour polled 296 votes while Hon Asante Boateng polled 360 votes.

Obour is going into the primaries this time around with the slogan, “It’s time for change”.

Following the announcement on Monday, his followers have been reacting, many of them discouraging him to back out while others believe otherwise.

“First year in office as a Director you incurred a loss I doubt your competence,” one follower commented.

“Don’t waste your time & Energy.”

“We can’t allow just anyone into parliament. The way anybody at all gets up decides they wanna get in the house you’d think it’s a circus and not lawmaking that’s happening there.”

“The change includes u not being elected.”

“We go in again .“

“Wish you all the best but there is still more work to be done at Ghana Post.”

“You’ve made Ghana post attractive to those Abroad and at home. You did a great job. Good luck.”
