NPP Must Abandon Insults And Rebuild Through Respect And Unity – Henry Kwabena Kokofu

NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman aspirant, Henry Kwabena Kokofu Esq., has called on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to abandon insults and divisive politics and instead focus on respectful communication, unity, and rebuilding the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Speaking in an interview with Opemsuo Radio’s Kofi Boakye on Nkwantannso, he said the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has consistently emphasised the need for clean and respectful political communication.
“Our flagbearer has made it clear that in everything we do, our communication must be respectful and clear,” he stated.
According to Mr. Kokofu, the NPP must continue to remind Ghanaians of the achievements of former President John Agyekum Kufuor and former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as part of efforts to reconnect with the electorate.
“The good things the New Patriotic Party government achieved under John Agyekum Kufuor should constantly be highlighted to remind Ghanaians of the legacy we built. In the same way, we should also speak about the achievements of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,” he said.
He noted that findings from investigations into the party’s defeat in the 2024 elections pointed to pride and disrespect among some of the factors that negatively affected the NPP.
“Our flagbearer, Mahamudu Bawumia, has also advised us to desist from insults and abusive politics. He says we should communicate with respect and humility,” he added.
Mr. Kokofu further disclosed that Dr. Bawumia considers the youth and women as central to the future of both the party and national development.
Despite the NPP’s current challenges, Mr. Kokofu expressed confidence that the party still possesses the determination and willingness to recover stronger.
“At the moment, we in the NPP may be at our lowest point, but the willingness, confidence, and determination to rise again are still there,” he stated.
According to him, the party leadership and Dr. Bawumia are committed to rebuilding and refocusing the NPP while removing attitudes and practices that do not reflect the party’s core values.
Mr. Kokofu urged party members to remain united, humble themselves, and seek divine guidance as they work toward regaining the confidence of Ghanaians.
“If we humble ourselves, pray, and leave everything in God’s hands, I believe He will give us the strength to rebuild and also help us regain the love and confidence Ghanaians once had in us,” he said.
