Debibi United Seal Historic First-Ever Promotion to Ghana Premier League

Debibi United have written their name in the history books by securing promotion to the Ghana Premier League for the first time ever.
The Zone One B champions clinched a memorable 3-1 victory over Tamale City FC in the Zone One promotion playoff at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday, May 13.
Kwadwo Antwi was the hero of the day, producing a sensational first-half hat-trick that left Tamale City stunned and effectively killed off the contest before the break.
Victor Kodom got the consolation goal for the Golden Eagles.
Coming into the decisive match,
Debibi United had topped Zone One B with 60 points, while Tamale City FC qualified from Zone One A with 55 points. However, it was Debibi United who showed superior quality and character on the big occasion.
The stunning comeback victory saw the ‘United for Victory’ outfit overcome early pressure before Antwi’s clinical finishing turned the game in their favour. The result triggered wild celebrations among the Debibi United players, officials and supporters who have waited patiently for this historic moment.
This promotion marks a remarkable achievement for the club, rising from the lower divisions to Ghana’s topflight league for the 2026/27 season. It represents a dream come true for the small club and their loyal fans.
Debibi United will now join the elite of Ghanaian football in the Ghana Premier League next season, adding a fresh name to the country’s top division.
