No One is Spoiling the Originality of Drill Music – King Paluta
King Paluta, the renowned artiste behind the hit track “Yahitte,” recently shared his perspective on the authenticity of drill music on Kumasefie with Mr Black on July 8. According to him, the dynamic nature of music allows for growth and innovation within genres.
Drawing a parallel to the evolution of RnB from the 1990s to the 2000s, he emphasized that change does not imply a loss of identity.
“Music is constantly evolving and changing. We cannot create the same kind of drill music in 2023 as we did in 2022 because we are always learning and improving. No one is spoiling the originality of drill music,” stated King Paluta.
He further indicated that the inspiration behind the release of “Yahitte” stemmed from his desire to create a song that resonated with a wider audience.
Recognizing that his previous rap songs were often challenging for listeners to engage with, he aimed to craft a track that people could easily sing along to.
“I wanted to break away from the traditional King Paluta style. I realized that while rap songs can be impressive, they don’t always allow people to join in and connect. Audiences crave music with a message they can relate to. That’s why I decided to create a more commercial song, drawing from the lessons I learned during my stage performances,” explained King Paluta.
Furthermore, King Paluta expressed his intention to challenge the perception of being associated with profane songs. He sought to redefine his image and deliver meaningful music that resonates with a broader audience.
The release of two remixes of “Yahitte” further propelled its success.
The first remix came about unexpectedly when King Paluta collaborated with Amerado. The overwhelming response inspired the creation of a second remix. Andy Dosty later contacted King Paluta, informing him of Kwame Eugene’s interest in collaborating on the second remix.
Looking ahead, King Paluta has ambitious plans for his music career.
He aims to release an album this year, with several songs being unveiled prior to the official album launch.
