No Land Document Was Destroyed; Lands Commission Counters

The Lands Commission has stated that no land document at its head office at Cantonments in Accra was destroyed by Saturday, May 21 flooding.

This comes on the back of media reports that documents including indentures, land maps, and land documents were affected by the downpour which flooded the basement of the office.

GNA reports that at its visit to the office on Monday, May 23, some officers of the Commission were seen drying documents at the forecourt of the Office, others were scavenging the documents in an attempt to salvage some and arrange those that had been mixed up while a team of cleaners were also seen busily scooping water out of the basement.

The Lands Commission has admitted to the flooding noting that significant damages were done by the floodwater but said it did not destroy any land document.

“Yes, there was flooding at the basement of our Greater Accra office causing insignificant damages. We assure the public that no land documents have been damaged”, it tweeted.
