Minority Demands Secret Voting over Sam George, Ablakwa Nominations

The Minority in Parliament has demanded a secret ballot to determine the approval or otherwise of two of President John Dramani Mahama’s nominees.

They are Minister for Communication-designate, Sam Narteh George and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

In Parliament on February 4, 2025, the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin emphasized that the two nominees will have to be subjected to a secret ballot.

Meanwhile, he indicated that all other nominees had their approval.

“Of the nominees, we have only two issues with two nominees. We are taking a secret ballot on two nominees and I’ve indicated to you- Hon Sam George and Hon Ablakwa. All the others by consensus, we don’t have a problem.”

That notwithstanding, the approved nominees were charged to furnish the Appointments Committee with documents they had committed to submit.
