Asantehemaa Dɔte Yie: No Sleep For The King On The Burial Day

It will literally be a vigil night for the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on the day the late Queen of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, will be laid alongside her ancestors.
After presiding over the day’s activities from morning till evening on September 18, 2025, the night rite will also go under his watch.
In accordance with tradition, the King will accompany the remains of Her Majesty at 9 pm to Bantama Baamu for some rituals that will last till midnight.
From there, the King will lead a journey with the remains to Breman Baamu at Abusuakruwa, which will be her final resting place.
His Majesty will return to the Manhyia Palace from there to perform the traditional kete dance with his traditional wives {Aheneyere} from 2 am till 4 am and then send them away with traditional drinks.
The Asantehene will, at exactly 5 am on Friday, which is a Fofie, undergo a purification rite which will make way for him to wear white cloths.
