Lady Julia Hosts GBA Executives

Lady Julia Osei Tutu, wife of the Asantehene, has hosted the executives of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) in a meeting that strengthened the long-standing relationship between her and the Association.

This was during a courtesy visit to the Manhyia Palace by the Executives led by the National President Mrs. Efua Ghartey, on April 17, 2026.

Present with the President at the meeting were key GBA national executives including Vice President Mrs. Victoria Nana Ama Barth, National Secretary Kwaku Gyau Baffour, Assistant National Secretary Aurelius Awuku, National Treasurer Amelia Crofie, and Immediate Past President Yaw Acheampong Boafo.

Also present were Regional President Kwame Owusu Sekyere and Regional Secretary Shadrack Obeng Yeboah.

In the meeting, Lady Julia expressed particular interest in the work of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Ghana as she enquired about it’s effectiveness, within the Ashanti Region.

She urged the GBA President to encourage more female lawyers to join FIDA and take up active roles in advancing women’s rights and access to justice.

“The legal profession must continue to create space for women to lead and serve,” Lady Julia noted, adding that FIDA Ghana remains a key platform for advocacy and legal aid for vulnerable women and children.

The Ashanti Regional President, Kwame Owusu Sekyere, assured Her Royal Highness that although the chapter had relocated from Ahodwo to Trapapatre, it remained active.

He pledged to mobilise more female lawyers to ensure the chapter continues to represent the interests it has served over the years.

Her Royal Highness was also informed about the desire by most of the lawyers to meet her and thereby requested her permission to arrange such a meeting.

As a lawyer herself, the GBA believed such an opportunity would expose them to her invaluable experience in the profession.
