A/R: KMA Gives Billboard Owners and Traders Deadline to Vacate Santasi–Ahodwo Stretch

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has announced a comprehensive clearance exercise along the Santasi to Ahodwo Roundabout as the city prepares for a major road expansion project.

Under the new directive, all artisans, mechanics, taxi operators, and traders operating within the stretch have been ordered to vacate the area by October 30, 2025, while owners of billboards and signages and temporary structures have until November 30, 2025, to remove their installations.

The exercise affects the entire route from Santasi Roundabout to Ahodwo Roundabout.

‘All signages and billboards installed along the stretch from Santasi Roundabout to Ahodwo Roundabout must be removed by November 30, 2025.”

“All temporary structures (wooden, metallic kiosks or shops) situated along the same Santasi Roundabout to Ahodwo Roundabout corridor are also to be removed by November 30, 2025.”

“Artisans, mechanics, squatters, taxi operators, and other traders operating in and around Santasi Roundabout, Taxi Station towards TUC, are reminded to voluntarily vacate the area by October 30, 2025, in accordance with the evacuation notice issued by the Assembly through a press release on September 24, 2025.”

According to the KMA, the move forms part of preparatory works for the construction of a dual carriage road under a partnership between the Government of Ghana and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The project is expected to improve traffic flow, enhance urban aesthetics, and boost economic activity within the Kumasi metropolis.

The Assembly emphasized that all affected persons are expected to comply fully with the timelines to ensure a smooth start to the development works.
